Cleveland Public Power to deploy SCADA system from Efacec ACS

Efacec ACS, a global provider of smart grid solutions, has been selected to install a complete turn-key PRISMTM SCADA system to Ohio’s largest municipally owned electric utility, Cleveland Public Power (CPP). The new system will be utilized for control of CPP’s sub-transmission, as well as the utility’s distribution system.

“The selection and installation of the PRISM SCADA system upholds our commitment to deliver reliable and affordable electricity to nearly 80,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers,” noted Robert Bonner, CPP’s Assistant Commissioner of Engineering.

The server-based SCADA system will be deployed using a distributed architecture, providing CPP with full redundancy for both primary and backup systems. Efacec ACS will also supply and install new operator consoles in the utility control center. Software applications to be delivered with the PRISM SCADA system include the advanced Graphical Operator Interface, Enterprise Historian, Automatic Generation Control, Short Term Load Forecasting and Interchange Transaction Scheduling.

Efacec ACS CEO José Barbosa said, “We are excited to welcome CPP into our user community. The PRISM SCADA system is the most complete offering found on the market today, and CPP recognizes the benefits the system will provide for the utility and their customers.”
