Kevin Sullivan Bio



Kevin Sullivan is an experienced leadership executive in the energy industry. Kevin’s expertise includes executive leadership, business development, business strategy development, and business transformation. This expertise is in the area of Energy Management Systems, Distribution Management Systems, Smart grids, renewable energy integration, virtual power plants, electric storage applications, and advance control theory. 
From 2008 until earlier this year, Kevin was the Senior Vice President Global Services, for a global energy advisory corporation – KEMA (subsequently called DNV GL). In this executive role, Kevin developed and implemented a portfolio of key services for utility customers across the globe. These services were designed to be scalable, market focused and locally delivered, using highly automated methodology and processes. Kevin’s leadership, knowledge and capabilities along with a sound understanding of the energy delivery operations and business, resulted in a number of strategic engagements with utility executives and system providers. This enabled companies to deploy new sustainable business plans and modeling tools leveraging new technology with advance applications.Kevin established a power generation advisory business focused on combining renewables and conventional generation assets in an optimized portfolio, together with central and distributed delivery, addressing specific energy markets and business challenges. 
Prior to KEMA, Kevin led a number of businesses for Siemens over a period of 27-years in the Americas, Asia, Europe and Africa. These leadership roles included Project/Program Manager, Group Leader, Department Manager, Senior VP and General Manager. At Siemens, Kevin successfully managed the growth of the Energy Management and Automation division of Siemens Power Transmission and Distribution, Inc. In this role, Kevin defined the strategic growth roadmap which resulted in business profitability along with significant growth in revenue and services. This expanded the cooperation with global energy delivery customers engaged in both bulk transmission and local distribution. Kevin provided leadership for a large group of professional engineers to enable them t  develop and deploy the latest software technology to optimize energy management. Kevin’s Siemens experience included leadership and executive roles in Minneapolis, Minnesota; Atlanta, Georgia; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Bradenton, Florida; Karlsruhe, Germany, and Johannesburg, South Africa.
Kevin graduated from the University of Cape Town, Republic of South Africa, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering.
